BERGEN-Led by Nick Hudson, the combined Westfield-Ripley-Chautauqua Lake wrestling team captured the annual Byron-Bergen Invitational on Saturday.
Hudson won the 113-pound title by defeating James Taylor of East Rochester, 8-3, for his third win as the WRCL claimed the 17-team event with 95 points followed by North Rose Wolcott 84, Churchville-Chili 81, St. Joseph's 79 and Attica with 64.
WRCL had three other wrestlers make the finals, but all lost.
Bryce Rowe lost in the 99-pound championship to Dane Heberlin of Alexander, 16-0, and Roger Williams was defeated in the 120-pound title bout by Matt Jaolini of Attica, 8-1. Trevor Enterline was beaten in the heavyweight match by Sam Eagan of Churchville-Chili, 9-3.
WRCL took a pair of thirds as Trent Howard (120) and Jaimz Heflin (160) gained forfeits.
Austin Hedges of Letchworth (145) was the lightweight most valuable performer while Jon Levachak of host Byron-Bergen (170) was the heavyweight MVP.
