Hallenbeck Opens Liquidation Center In Frewsburg

FREWSBURG - An experienced seller of estates has opened a liquidation center in Frewsburg.

Ellis Hallenbeck, Hallenbeck Antiques & Estate Sales owner, has started a liquidation center across the street from his gold and silver exchange. The new business is located at 27 W. Main St., Frewsburg.

Hallenbeck has been doing estate sales for about eight years and handles about 40 per year. He opened the business because hosting an estate sale at a house isn't always the best situation.

''We've run into some sales were there wasn't enough items to do it at a home. So we've combined estate sales and moved the items to the estate liquidation center,'' he said. ''It works out better this way. People don't have to deal with the house. Going from room to room or climbing up and down stairs.''

Hallenbeck said sometimes people just don't want the sale at their home because there is a lack of parking or there is a potential hazzard.

''This way it is safer. People have a place to park. Sometimes people live on a narrow street or along a curve and it is not safe to hold an estate sale there. This makes a lot more sense to do it this way,'' he said.

Each sale at the liquidation center is for three days - Thursday, Friday and Saturday - and runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Once the sale is done, Hallenbeck said the items are removed so new items can fill the 6,000-square-foot facility.

''After the sale, we clear the items out to an auctioneer. Then we buy from only new estate sales. There is nothing that has already been part of an estate sale,'' he said.''We only have fresh items on display. Nothing that has already been exposed.''

Thursday was the first estate sale for the Hallenbeck's liquidation center.

''There were 50 to 60 people waiting at the door when we opened up,'' he said.

Hallenbeck said an estate sale will be held at the liquidation center as frequently as possible, which could be every couple weeks to a month. The next sale is planned for Dec. 13-15.

''We pull in a good volume of people. We have a mailing list and the website. People from Ohio to Pennsylvania come in for the sales,'' he said. ''We work with realtors and attorneys on estate sales. We do them within a 100-mile radius of here. We've done one as far out as Ashtabula, Ohio.''

Hallenbeck said his company still offers the same great service, with items removed quickly and homes cleaned afterward. For more information, call 569-3449 or 640-4528. People can also visit www.hallenbeckantiques.com.
