A man wanted on a federal indictment in Puerto Rico is now in Chautauqua County Jail after a drug bust in Jamestown on Thursday afternoon.
Luis Marquez-Burgos, 28, was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance after Jamestown Police officers executed a search warrant at 1088 N. Main St. at 2 p.m. An investigation revealed that narcotics were being sold from the location and when members of the JPD's Special Weapons and Tactics team made entry, they found Marquez-Burgos inside with a large quantity of cocaine and heroin packaged for sale.
Marquez-Burgos has an outstanding federal indictment warrant from Puerto Rico for the trafficking and possession of more than 1 kilogram of heroin, more than 5 kilograms of cocaine and more than 100 kilograms of marijuana.

"This is a case we initiated through the city and everything else fell into place," said Captain Bob Samuelson of the Jamestown Police Department. "We looked into sales from this location and determined who he was, then we reached out to the Marshals."
Marquez-Burgos was taken to Jamestown City Jail where he was later arraigned, and then taken to the Chautauqua County Jail in Mayville due to the felony charges. He will be arraigned on the federal warrant in Federal District Court at a later date.
"This is a felony so that takes him to County Jail after his charges here," said Samuelson. "Next he will be arraigned in Buffalo district court and brought back to Chautauqua County for the local and state charges. Eventually he'll be in the custody of the U.S. Marshals."
JPD investigators were assisted by agents with the Department of Homeland Security and agents from the Marshals office in Buffalo.
