CHERRY CREEK - Main Street in Cherry Creek will be filled with the sights and sounds of Christmas this Saturday, as the Cherry Creek Community Association hosts the annual Christmas in Cherry Creek weekend.
The weekend will begin at 10 a.m. in the Cherry Creek-Leon United Methodist Church with the second annual craft bazaar and cookie walk. The event boasts 16 craft vendors, set up in both fellowship halls and offering everything from handmade jewelry, various yarn items, candles to soaps. Santa will there to greet the children and pose for pictures, which will be available for parents to purchase. Hundreds of cookies will be available for $3.75 per dozen at the "cookie walk" portion of the event, as well as chili, made by the ladies of the church, for lunch.
One of the main sights of the day will be the "Old Time/Dickens" village on display in the church's sanctuary, which features over 100 pieces, a skating pond and hand-stitched roads.
"The village is a hobby of mine, and was quite popular with our visitors last year," said Pastor Bruce Fish. "It grows a bit each year, as my friends and family find pieces to add to the collection."
"Guests at this year's event will be able to make quite a day of it with us this year," Pastor Fish went on to say. "We'll have coffee available, lots of cookies, chili for lunch, time with Santa and photos, and the village on display. A nice way to spend a Saturday in December."
Rustic Creations will also be open with beautiful country and rustic items, with Nancy Hall and her staff on hand to assist visitors with anything they might need.
Mendle's Crossroads Grocery will be open and will have many gift items available for sale.
The Trillium Lodge with feature Lunch With Santa from noon to 2 p.m. as well, and a delightful menu of delicious food available for visitors.
The weekend's festivities will conclude with the annual hanging of the bows on the memorial Christmas tree in the gazebo of Memorial Park on Main Street at 4:30 p.m., and a light buffet supper at the Trillium Lodge following the ceremony.
