Loyd Thomas Barber

Loyd Thomas Barber, 85, of Route 380 Sinclairville, passed away Sunday (Nov. 25, 2012) in the Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing Center, Gerry.

He was born Jan. 13, 1927 in the Town of Cold Springs, N.Y. the son of the late Walter A. and Frances Morrison Barber.

Loyd attended Randolph High School and in earlier years was employed by AMSCO-Excel. Prior to retirement he was employed by the Chautauqua County Sanitation Department and had been a self employed dairy farmer. He was a member of the Farm Bureau, Centralia Grange, had been a 4-H Leader for several years and attended South Stockton Wayside Chapel.

Loyd enjoyed farming, animals and spending time with family.

Surviving are his wife, Roberta G. Brown Barber whom he married March 2, 1946 in Conewango Val-ley; two sons: James L. (Susan) Barber and Otis W. (Patricia) Barber all of Sinclairville; a daughter, Sandra (Steven) Wheeler of Coatesville, Pa.; eight grandchildren: David Barber, Cheryl Chase, Deborah Maze, Erin Wheeler, Zachary Wheeler, Ashleigh Stroble, John Barber, and Kathryn Wood; 15 great grandchildren; a brother, Clayton (Penny) Barber; and a sister, Brenda (Roy) See of Randolph.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers: Julian, Julius and Frank Barber; and three sisters: Elva Sherman, Alma Crossley and Beverly Shreckengost.

The funeral will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the Falconer Funeral Home. John Barber, his grandson will officiate. Burial will be in Red Bird Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.
