Neva H. Carlson

Neva H. Carlson, 84, formerly of Route 394, Falconer and the Frewsburg Rest Home, passed away Thursday (Nov. 22, 2012), in the Lutheran Home and Rehabilitation Center.

A lifelong area resident, she was born Aug. 17, 1928, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late Henry and Cora Stormer Wilson.

Neva was a graduate of Jamestown High School and Jamestown School of Practical Nursing. In earlier years, Neva was employed by Hope Haven Nursing Home, Frewsburg Rest Home and prior to retirement was employed by Lutheran Social Services. During retirement, Neva was a private care nurse, and had volunteered for several organizations.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Levant Cemetery Society, Ross Grange and Chautauqua County Nursing Association. Neva was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren. She will be remembered as a loving caring person who was always there to help anyone in need. Heaven is a better place with Neva in it.

Surviving are two sons: Raymond (Stephanie) Carlson of Frewsburg, and Wayne (Marcia) Carlson of Lakewood; six grandchildren: Benjamin Carlson, Katie Carlson, Adam Carlson, Molly Carlson, Kristofor Carlson and Alexander Carlson; and a brother, Henry (Elvera) Wilson of Lander, Pa.

She was preceded in death by her husband Harold E. Carlson, whom she married Nov. 27, 1948, in Falconer, who died July 8, 1997; a granddaughter, Sarah E. Carlson in 1980; her stepfather, Grover Lounsbery; three brothers: Raymond, Fred and Howard Kelsey; and two sisters Betty Pierce and Florence Croft.

The funeral will be at 7 p.m. Monday in the Falconer Funeral Home. The Rev. Timothy J. Hoyer, pastor of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Levant Cemetery.

Friends will be received by the family from 5-7 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.

Memorials may be donated to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 20 N. Phetteplace St., Falconer, NY 14733.
