A Cattaraugus County resident has been awarded a $500 per year "Alumni Scholarship" to attend Alfred State.

Nathan Draegert of Dayton is slated to graduate in 2013 from Gowanda Central School and intends to enroll in the electrical construction and maintenance electrician program.

The "Alumni Scholarship" is awarded to children and grandchildren of Alfred State alumni with an 83-plus high school average. Awards are disbursed over four semesters provided scholarship requirements are fulfilled. The Alumni Scholarship is made possible through the generosity of the Alfred State Alumni Association.

Fully accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Alfred State offers some 52 associate degree programs, 20 baccalaureate degree programs and three certificate programs.
