Marita R. Ekberg, 81, of Falconer, went to be with the Lord Sunday, Nov. 18, 2012, in WCA Hospital.
She was born April 28, 1931, in the Dominican Republic, the daughter of the late Julio and Maria Troncoso Ramos.
She was educated in the Dominican Republic and graduated from Jamestown Community College. Prior to coming to the U.S. in 1964, she was a movie actress and model in Mexico City and throughout Latin America. She had written seven books, of which two had been made into movies, and had a talent for speaking five different languages. She had a passion for music and was trained by the infamous Julio Hernandez in classical piano. Marita was also prolific in the accordion and guitar. Prior to retirement she had been employed at WCA Hospital for many years.

Marita was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Jamestown. She was full of passion, and had a fire for life, Marita fought hard up until the end, and now is at peace with the Lord. She will be missed greatly by her family and friends.
She is survived by her daughters: Ivonne Camacho of New York City, and Tina Cain of Erie Pa.; three sons: Curtis (Heidi) Southwick of Falconer, Rolland Southwick of Jamestown, and Paul Southwick of Savannah Ga.; three grandchildren: Taylor Southwick, Mitchel Southwick and Jenelle Bennett; a great-grandchild, Zaiden Tach; a brother: Gen. Julio Ramos-Troncoso; two sisters: Osiris Knowles and Nelsy Ramos; three caring caregivers that she loved dearly: Amanda Jones, Shyra Camacho and Cheryl Warrior: and her beloved cat, Coco Chanel.
Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Herman Ekberg, a grandson, Brandon Matjoulis; a granddaughter, Tara Lampman; a great-granddaughter, Lexi Lampman; and a sister, Tachi Ramos.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday in the Falconer Funeral Home, where The Rev. Dan Nagle, pastor of the First Lutheran Church in Jamestown, will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Friends will be received from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday in the Funeral Home.
