Women In Agriculture Group To Meet

November 21, 2012
The Post-Journal

PORTLAND - The Lake Erie Women in Agriculture group will meet from 6:30-8 p.m. on Monday at the Cornell Lake Erie Research and Extension Laboratory, 6592 W. Main Road, Portland.

The topic will be employee management and the "Ten Things Your Employees Expect From You," a presentation developed for women in agriculture by Tom Maloney of Cornell University. Ample time will be given for women to be able to discuss employee management issues and to share information with each other and network.

Labor is often one of the highest costs for a farm and requires significant amounts of time. As most farms are owned and operated by families, women are often in charge of employee management. Cornell Cooperative Extension and the Lake Erie Region Grape Program developed the Lake Erie Women in Agriculture to help farm women make connections with, and learn from, other women in agriculture, and to provide information about practices that improve their farm's production and financial viability. Women involved in agricultural production of any industry are welcome to attend, and to bring friends, neighbors and family with them.

Registration is requested by today by calling Ginny Carlberg at 664-9502, ext. 202, or emailing vec22@cornell.edu; Jodi Creasap-Gee at 792-2800, ext. 204, or emailing jec53@cornell.edu; or Kevin Martin at 792-2800, ext. 205 or emailing kmm52@cornell.edu.
