Beaver, DePane Pace JCC Women

BUTLER, Pa. - Kelsie Beaver and Ashley DePane keyed a big first half as the Jamestown Community College women's basketball team rolled to its fifth win in seven outings Tuesday evening in NJCAA competition.

Beaver hit three 3-pointers en route to 13 points and DePane had two 3s on the way to 10 points when JCC built a 43-27 halftime lead over Butler County CC en route to a 74-49 victory.

''Butler came out in a zone and we hit the shots from the perimeter,'' said JCC coach George Sisson. "Kelsie hit three threes and Ashley two threes and were our triggermen.''

In the second half, Lauren Saglimben got hot off the bench with nine points and Christine Biela came through with several rebounds and strong defense.

JCC, an NJCAA Division II team, raised its winning streak to three in a row by extending the lead to 31-22 in the second half in dropping Butler, a Division III team, to 1-4.

Beaver checked out with 17 points, DePane 16, Saglimben 14 and Taylor Storer 10 for JCC.

The high scorer of the game before fouling out was Shelby Johnston of Butler with 24 points.

''It was nice to get a road win and everybody got a chance to play,'' said Sisson.

The Jayhawks are off until Nov. 28 when they play at Pitt-Titusville at 5 p.m. with the men set for a 7 p.m. game.
