Two Taken To ECMC After Accident In Hanover

Two people were flown to the Erie County Medical Center following a motor vehicle accident Saturday.

The Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office is investigating the one-vehicle accident on Hanover Road in Hanover at 12:44 p.m. Saturday.

According to authorities, the driver of a northbound SUV lost control of the vehicle on a gravel shoulder, causing the vehicle to overturn several times. One passenger was ejected and a second passenger was trapped within the vehicle. Both were flown to ECMC in Erie with injuries. The driver and a third passenger were taken by ambulance to Lakeshore Hospital with less severe injuries.

The sheriff's office was assisted at the scene by the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office Accident Reconstruction Team, New York State Police, Silver Creek Fire Department, Forestville Fire Department, Starflight and Mercy Flight. The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
