Washington Teacher Receives Award

November 18, 2012
The Post-Journal

Sheri Brandes, Washington Middle School family and consumer science teacher, was named Promising New Professional for the State of New York Association of Family and Consumer Science Educators for the 2011-12 school year. Last year, Mrs. Brandes was named the Promising New Professional Award for the Western South Region of New York State. Each region winner is scored on their application and best practice, a formal FACS lesson plan. The NYSAFCSE names one professional each year at the state level and Mrs. Brandes was selected as the best applicant. The Promising New Professional Award is given to teachers that have been teaching for less than seven years and show potential for teaching with a passion for Family and Consumer Sciences.
