Jefferson Middle School fifth-grader Breeannah Brown created a card for servicemen and women in honor of Make A Difference Day. The school's Character Education Committee celebrated the day by asking teachers, during supervisory set and homeroom, to have students create the cards for the soldiers who are overseas. Students thanked them for their service to their country, encouraged them to stay safe, offered their support of their efforts and added personal touches about themselves. The Committee also created care packages to send along with the letters. "It is important to thank them for their service to our country and also because they might need some comfort or help to keep going," said Jefferson Middle School fifth-grader Taylor Austin. "I'm glad we did this for Make a Difference Day because sometimes someone in your community might need help and when kids can help, we should give back to our community."
