"Icing on the cake" is how Kristie Schwab describes the facade restoration project completed at Panache Salon & Day Spa.
Schwab has owned the business, located at 525 W. Third St., Jamestown, for 11 years. During this time most of the renovation plans have focused on the interior. However, with help from the Jamestown Renaissance Corporation and city of Jamestown officials, the exterior has been restored, too.
"The exterior renovations recently completed have been a personal vision and long-term goal," she said. "The purpose of opening Panache Salon & Day Spa was to establish a Jamestown business reflective of a metropolitan-area salon - one that makes luxury salon and spa care affordable and accessible."

Schwab said the project started in September and was finished earlier this month.
"We have been planning it for more than a year," she said. "We had the old metal awning removed. We covered old stone and brick with new material. The two entry doors were replaced. We added new lighting and a new sign. We are really happy with it."
Schwab said the $60,000 renovation project wouldn't have been possible without help from city officials.
"This was a collaborative effort with the city of Jamestown, the JRC and our business," Schwab said. "Without the help of those organizations, this project would not have left the ground. We are greatly appreciative for all that help."
T.M. Desmond Construction was the general contractor on the project. Schwab said the project was done by local businesses.
"It was nice to keep everything local. We had Jamestown Awning helping. Chautauqua Signs did the sign," she said. "They all worked together to meet deadlines."
The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation, often in partnership with the city of Jamestown, has assisted in funding more than 30 facade restorations since 2008. This includes three this year on West Third Street at Summit Wealth Management, Panache Salon & Day Spa and the former Maynard's Electric building.
"The Jamestown Renaissance Corporation is pleased to have been afforded the opportunity to work with Panache Salon & Day Spa," said Jason Stronz, JRC executive director. "Panache and its neighbors have done a fantastic job bolstering the appearance of the western gateway into downtown Jamestown."
Schwab said it was the first exterior renovation project done during her tenure owning the business.
"It was an intimidating project when we started. Now looking back, it wasn't so bad thanks to all those involved who had years of experience," she said. "I won't be intimidated next time."
Panache Salon & Day Spa offers a full line of hair services from cuts to colorings to extensions. The spa offers several types of massages, waxings, body treatments and facials.
"What sets us apart, we bring services that aren't easily found around here," she said. "We want to take care of our clients when they want taken care of. We fit our services into their schedule, not ours."
Schwab said she has 20 years experience providing quality services and products.
"People are happy to see us. We make people feel good about themselves," she said.
The business is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday; 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; and 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday.
