Martin E. Purdy, 83, of Jamestown, died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, in UPMC Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
A native of Corry, Pa., he was born Dec. 24, 1928, a son of the late Stanley and Josephine Swiderski Bialc-zak.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving from 1948 to 1952.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Marlin Rockwell Corporation as a grinder.
He was a member of War Vets Recreation.
Surviving are four children: Sharon O'Brian of Rochester, N.Y., Martinette (Bob) Waid of Jamestown, Paul Purdy of North Carolina and Terry (Jack) Rowland of Rome, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; a great-greatgrandson; and a sister Ann Hedlund of Youngsville, Pa.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mildred Brewer, whom he married Nov. 12, 1948 and who died March 10, 2009; a beloved daughter, Diana Farnsworth; two grandchildren: Liandra Pollaro and Kari Rowland; a sister, Josephine Christ; and a brother, Stanley Bialczak Jr.
A private service will be held at the convenience of the family.
Friends will be received from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the Lind Funeral Home.
