CLRA Opens Fall Season With Two Events

Chautauqua Lake Rowing Association started off the fall 2012 adult competitive season with regattas at Cleveland, Ohio, and Rochester.

The Head of the Cuyahoga in Cleveland, held on the Cuyahoga River on a course lengthened to 4,800 meters, saw three teams compete from the CLRA.

The men's 4-plus boat included Jim Odrzywolski, Kevin Sixbey, Byron Bilicki and Mickey Sorenson with a guest coxswain. They finished third in the men's rec race, winning a bronze medal.

The women's 8-plus boat with Libby Chentfant, Jan Odrzywolski, Colleen Wright, Sarah Thompson, Diane Paterniti, Maureen Mack, Kathie McCarthy, Barb Bilicki and coxswain Lane Tomassini finished fourth overall in the women's rec race.

For the women's 4-plus boat in the Open Category, Ali Odrzywolski, Stephanie Hall, C. Wright, Erin Troester and J. Odrzywolski as coxswain finished third, also winning bronze.

In Rochester, CLRA attended the Lift Bridge Regatta, the longest event for the season at 5,400 meters. The event is staged on the Erie Canal finishing in Fairport.

The men's boat, rowing in the Masters 4-plus event, consisted of Odrzywolski, Sixbey, Bilicki, Sorenson and coxswain Libby Wright and finished fourth overall.

The women's boat, competing in the Masters 8-plus category, consisted of Wright, A. Odrzywolski, Chentfant, Thompson, Paterniti, Bilicki, Mack, Diana Meckley and coxswain Heather Tytkor, finished fifth overall.
