The Post-Journal

The Chautauqua Region Community Foundation has extended the deadline for the "Space Camp" scholarship application until Nov. 26.

The Space Camp scholarship provides recipients with the opportunity to attend the United States Space Camp in Huntsville, Ala. The five-day program is designed to educate young people on the outer reaches of space, while also allowing them to participate in certain forms of astronaut training. Some of the activities include simulated shuttle missions, rocket building and launches, scientific experiments, and lectures on the history and future of space exploration.

Ideal candidates for the Space Camp scholarship must have a strong academic background in science and math and possess a solid understanding of our solar system. Candidates must also be interested in space travel, aeronautics and science as a whole, and to be eligible must be in at least fourth grade.

Application forms are available at the foundation office, 418 Spring St., Jamestown, or through the foundation website at www.crcfonline.org. For more information, call 661-3390.
