HARMONY - A Pennsylvania man died Tuesday, the result of an apparent hunting accident.

Chautauqua County Sheriff's officials received a call at 3:10 p.m. from a friend who said Allen "Randy" Smith, 146 Hinchberger Road, Butler, Pa., went out hunting and had not been seen or heard from in awhile. Sheriff's deputies including the K9 unit located Smith in a nearby wooded area. It appeared something broke on Smith's tree stand and he fell approximately 20 feet to the ground. The 68-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene by the county coroner.

The New York State Police, state Department of Environmental Conservation, Forest Ranger Service, county fire coordinator and Panama Volunteer Fire Department assisted in recovering Smith's body.
