Lois E. Bylund

Lois E. Bylund, 87, of 44600 Monterey Ave. Palm Desert, Calif., formerly of Jamestown, N.Y., passed away on Wednesday (Nov. 7, 2012) in the Odyssey House, Palm Desert.

She was born Oct. 16, 1925, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Frank Otto and Elizabeth Hilda Carlson Bylund.

Lois was a 1943 graduate of Jamestown High School and a 1946 graduate of the Millard Fillmore Hospital School of Nursing, Buffalo, N.Y.

Before her retirement she was a registered nurse working at the former Jamestown General Hospital before continuing her nursing career in California, where she relocated with her family in 1972.

She loved to travel with her sister and visited many places including Sweden, Portugal, Spain, Hawaii and Morocco. She also loved collecting anything to do with nursing.

Surviving is a sister Phyllis Bylund of Palm Desert, Calif. and several cousins including Wanda Chili of Florida and Cindy Buck of Jamestown.

The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Natalie Hanson, pastor of the Christ First United Methodist Church, will of-ficiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery. Visi-tation will not be observed.

Memorials may be made to the Christ First United Methodist Church or to a charity of one's choice.
