WESTFIELD Edith Mae (Barger) Maggio, 92, a resident of the Absolut of Westfield, formerly of Sampson Street, Jamestown, died Monday, November 5, 2012, at home following a long fought battle with lung cancer,
Edith was born in Ripley, N.Y., on June 16, 1920, a daughter of the late Earl E. and Catherine Hartson Barger. She was a graduate of Ripley Central School and had belonged to the Ripley Presbyterian Church.
Edith was a self-employed beautician having had her beauty shop at her home on Sampson Street for many years. She was an accomplished cook who mastered Italian cooking.
She is survived by her brother, Donald E. Barger of Ripley, and many nieces and nephews.
Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Anthony Maggio in 1983, her son, Earl E. Gordon in 1993, by her two brothers, Earl E. Barger Jr. and Robert L. Barger, as well as her two sisters, Dorothy Pelow and Enora Genley.
Honoring Edith's request to donate her body to science, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
