Vikings Hold Children’s Halloween Party, Parade

The Vikings recently held its children's Halloween party at the Viking Lake Park.

The party is one of many Halloween festivities. The costume parade was divided into two divisions. The infant to 7-year-old class was won by Liam Videll, Aclarah Egan, Stana Barron, Camryn Olson and Carson Freeman. The 8-year-old and up division was won by Cade Egan, Madison Smith, Kynan Egan, Aliya Graham and Holly Morgenstern. They were all awarded dinner at the Vikings and candy bars.

There were four pumpkins donated by Peterson Farms that were decorated by Dawn Stuart. The pumpkins are made by Betsy Lynch. The total weight of the pumpkins was 69 pounds and the pumpkin weighing contest was won by Courtney Hemminger at 70 pounds. She won her pick of the pumpkins. The remainder of the pumpkins were won by Emily Spitz, Linnea Barron and Belle Johnson. Molly Morgenstern guessed 353 candy corns in the jar of 346 and she got the whole jar.

In addition to the contests, there were crafts of making faces on decorative bats and putting the finishing touch on edible candy pumpkin bracelets. Children received prizes and candy for their participation. There were crayons, coupons, coloring packets, glow bracelets, creative costumes, contests, games, candy bags, ice cream, cheese curls, doughnuts, juice boxes, a haunted house manned by volunteers.

Donations for the party were made by Peterson Farms, Bob Kaverman, Wendy's, McDonald's and Burger King. Volunteers were Janet and Tim Miller, Brenda and Wayne Nelson, Bonnie Magers, Jean and Charlie Kent, Kitty and Bryan Nelson, Jeff Newman, Linda and Dan Anderson, Darla Nelson, Linda Smith, Vicky and Jeff Kosthorst, Ron Willey, Carl Olson, Betsy Lynch, Paula Steele, Dawn Stuart, Lynn and Bob Lindberg and Orrissa Greenwald.
