At the 2012 Ski Areas of New York annual expo held at the Hope Lake Lodge/Greek Peak Ski Area and attended by over 375 ski industry professional the Ski Areas of New York Hall of Fame Award was presented to Jack Van Scoter.
The Hall of Fame honors those who have made a significant contributions by rendering their time, efforts and skills to the betterment of our organization in support of skiing and snowboarding in New York State.
Van Scoter ran the Cockaigne Ski Area with his wife Connie for over 40 years. Cockaigne focused on learn to ski programs and many skiers and riders got their start at Cockaigne.
Van Scoter served for over a decade on the SANY board of directors including time as chairman. Jack also served on the National Ski Areas Association board of directors.
