The Winifred Crawford Dibert Boys & Girls Club of Jamestown will offer special youth activity hours during a number of upcoming school holidays and conference days.
On Monday, due to Veterans Day, the club will also be open from noon to 5 p.m. with youth free swim from 1-4:30 p.m. for all area students ages 5 through 18. Adult open swim will be held from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. There will not be any infant/toddler swim or adult learn to swim classes on this date.
Following the Jamestown Public School District's calendar, the club will be open from noon to 5 p.m. for students in kindergarten through fourth grades on Friday, Nov. 16, and Monday, Nov. 19, due to parent-teacher conferences.
Children in fifth through eighth grades have a half-day of school on Nov. 30 due to an early dismissal. The club will be open from noon to 5 p.m. for fifth through eighth grade students on Nov. 30 as well. On each of these days, all regularly scheduled classes, sports programs and evening activities at the club will continue as usual.
"Dedicated Dads" meets at the club the first Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. In November, fathers and their children made rubber band race cars together. Any interested community dads, stepfathers, grandfathers, uncles or mentors may bring their children and enjoy participating in an activity and refreshments. The next event will be Dec. 6 with an activity to be announced.
The November "Bingo and Pie Party" will be from 6:30-8 p.m. Nov. 15. In addition to the traditional pie-tasting party, families will have an opportunity to play a family-friendly game of bingo with their children. Families do not have to be Boys & Girls Club members to attend Family Plus events.
The Boys & Girls Club will be open from noon to 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 21. No evening hours will be available on this date.
The club will be closed for its traditional Thanksgiving break Thursday, Nov. 22, through Saturday, Nov. 24, with all regular activities to resume on Monday, Nov. 26.
Teen Nights are scheduled for 9 to 11 p.m. today and Nov. 30 for all teens between the ages of 13 and 18 who are enrolled in school. Teen Nights are free to all area youth who are interested in participating in positive and fun activities with their peers.
