ROCHESTER - The Jamestown Community College swimming and diving team suffered a 268-100 loss at Monroe CC on Wednesday night as the host Tribunes won both the men's and women's divisions.

"We had some decent swims tonight, but the Monroe team is big, fast and well coached,'' JCC coach Mike Giambruno said ''We came up a little short."

A few notable swims were Victor Hallett at 2:32.37 for second place in the 200-yard backstroke, John Trombetta at 54.35 for second in the 100 freestyle, Kelsey Akin in the 200 individual medley at 2:25.72 for second place.

Akin also finished the 500-yard freestyle in 5:55.29.

Allison Chitester competed in her first 1,650-yard freestyle for a third place in 22:11.55.

"Allison did a real nice job tonight,'' Giambruno said. ''For not having swam that distance before in competition, she really had a nice swim.''

He added, ''We're still getting in racing form and condition, so I expect these times to come down significantly in the next few months."

The Jayhawk are home on Wednesday at 6 p.m. against Genesee CC.
