Police Look For Silver Creek Man Involved In Fatal Crash

Chautauqua County Sheriff's deputies are looking for a man who fled the scene of a one-vehicle car crash that killed a Silver Creek man.

At 3 a.m. today, a vehicle being driven south on Routes 5 and 20 by Jeremiah S. Burgess, 22, turned onto the split on Route 5 and crashed into a concrete abutment in the ditch on the south side of the road. A passenger in the vehicle, Jeremy M. Long, 22, of Silver Creek, was pronounced dead at the scene by John Mackowiak, county coroner. Burgess fled the scene and has not been found. Burgess is described as being 6 feet tall and weighing 270 pounds.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Chautauqua County Sheriff's Office at 753-2131.
