Virginia H. Mucha, 88, of Fredonia, N.Y., died in the early morning hours of Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the Chautauqua County Home, with her family by her side.
She was born April 6, 1924, in Portland, N.Y., to the late Joseph and Margaret Dudeck Mucha. Virginia attended Brocton schools, and graduated in 1942 from Brocton Central High School. After high school she attended and graduated from the Buffalo School of Cosmetology.
In 1950, along with her cousin, Natalie Dudeck, she applied for enrollment for foreign missionary training in the accredited Watch Tower Bible School of Gilead located near Ithaca, N.Y., volunteering to be assigned anywhere in the world, graduating in 1952.

On receiving their diplomas at graduation, they were assigned to Chile, South America, arriving there on Oct. 31, 1952. Becoming fluent in Spanish, she spent the next 22 years as an instructor, tutoring families and individuals with free home Bible studies, engaging in missions of mercy, and helping to create new congregations in Chile.
In 1973, Virginia returned to the United States to care for aging family members. She continued her ministerial career in Northern Chautauqua communities for another 39 years, for a total of 63 years in two countries.
Virginia is survived by her brother, Richard C. (Susan) Mucha of Brocton, N.Y.; a nephew, Timothy J. (Renee) Mucha of Coconut Creek, Fla.; two nieces: Jonnette Mucha (Robert) Edebohls of Longwood, Fla., and Tina M. Mucha (Keith) Brown of Springville, N.Y.; two grandnieces: Amanda R. Mucha of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Kathryn C. Hibit of Springville, N.Y. Also survived by four grandnephews: Shawn T. Mucha of Coconut Creek, Fla., Alexander C. Hibit of Springville, N.Y., and Christopher and Gregory Edebolhs, both of Longwood, Fla.
Besides her parents, Virginia was predeceased by four brothers: Joseph Jr., John, Walter and Edward Mucha; and three sisters: Bernice, Marie and Wanda Mucha.
