Donald A. “Zeke” Hanson

Donald A. "Zeke" Hanson, 75, of 30 High Acres, Bemus Point, died Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in Hospice House Warren.

A native of Busti, he was born Nov. 16, 1936, the son of Arthur and Alma Anderson Hanson.

He graduated from Lakewood High School, and later served in the National Guard.

Prior to his retirement, he was employed by Interstate Trucking for 17 years and by CARTS following retirement.

He was a member of AMVETS Post 50, Sugar Grove, Ellery Rod and Gun Club and Chautauqua County Sportsmen's Federation.

He was an outdoor enthusiast and enjoyed going to flea markets.

Surviving are four children: Dan (Pam) Hanson of Russell, Pa., Tom (Shelley) Consla of Gerry, Gary (Brenda) Consla of Bemus Point, and Lois (Ron) Carrington of Warren, Pa; nine grandchildren: Heather, Kelly, Faith, Melissa, Amanda, Katie, Mike, Ron and Nathan; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, JoAnn Ekdahl of Ithaca, N.Y.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ruth Hollabaugh, whom he married April 9, 1976, and who died April 7, 2007.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. David McCarthy will officiate.

Inurnment will be in Busti Cemetery.

Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home, Friday.
