Members of the Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers met for their annual "hobo" dinner.
The traditional meal of hot dog, beans and sauerkraut was served with doughnuts and cider to follow.
Following the dinner Theresa Perrin, president, opened the monthly meeting. Two new members, Ramona Gustafson and Ann Holt, were welcomed into the group, along with Josie Sandberg, who was reinstated.
Reports were read, accepted and filed. Bills were approved to be paid.
On display were knitted and crocheted items made by members. These items, mittens, hats, scarves and blankets are donated to RSVP, the legion and schools. Brenda Wyler, from RSVP, was the guest at the meeting. She thanked all who gave their time and talent to making the items.
A discussion was held about bylaws. A committee is to report on them at the next meeting. A nomination committee is to present nominations for president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer at November's meeting. Also, Dorothy Nelson has decided to step down as a chair of memberships.
A report was given by the trip committee. The trip planned for November is the last one of the year. The trip, scheduled for Nov. 27, will be to Viva Voch Christmas Cabaret in Rochester.
Pig and Poke winners were Grace Peterson and Norma Colvin. Fifty/fifty winner was Joanne Osman.
Members celebrating birthdays were: William Confer, Marie Robbins, Charles Yerico, Donna Haennagi and Theresa Perrin.
The Harvest Dinner and meeting is scheduled for the Busti Fire Hall on Nov. 20 with the meal being served at 12:30. The committee will be Donnell Wiltsie and Eivor Keller.
It is time to pay annual dues. Also, the group welcomes new members. One does not have to live in Busti or Lakewood to join, but all members do have to be senior citizens. For more information, contact Theresa Perrin at 665-2414.
