St. Luke's Shoppers Luncheon Is Friday
St. Luke's Episcopal church at 410 North Main St., Jamestown, will offer its Shoppers' Luncheon from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday. The lunch of homemade chicken a la king on biscuits and choice of blueberry, Concord grape, apple or pumpkin pie is $7. The lunch will be served in the undercroft accessible from East Fourth Street.
Wing City Hosting Superstorm Benefit
In response to Superstorm Sandy, Wing City Grille is hosting a fundraising event for the victims. Wing City will give 50 percent of all profits for the week, which began Monday and runs through Sunday, to storm relief efforts at the American Red Cross. There will also be an opportunity for additional donations directly to the Red Cross at the restaurant throughout the week.
AARP?Driving Class Is Nov. 20-21
ELLINGTON - A driver safety class, sponsored by the AARP, will be held from 6-9:15 p.m. Nov. 20 and 21 in the Farman Free Library, Ellington. The course is videotape-driven, with a manual and covers a variety of topics including flexibility exercises, sinage, health matters and driving while intoxicated. During the month of November, the class is free for military veterans and their spouses. The cost for AARP members is $17; non- members, $19. Participants should pay by check or money order. Cash cannot be accepted. Those attending may be able to save up to 10 percent off their car insurance costs and three points off their license. Pre-registration is required; call 490-3880.
Blood Donation?Center Closed
The American Red Cross Blood Donation Center, 325 E. Fourth St., Jamestown, will be closed Wednesday due to increased demand for blood donation staff members to help collect blood in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy. The donation center will be open from 12:30-5:30 p.m. Thursday. There will be a two pairs of Buffalo Bills tickets given away Thursday for all those who donate Thursday.
Election?Day Dinner Starts At 7 A.M.
BUSTI - The Busti Fire Department Auxiliary will sponsor its annual Election Day bake sale from 7 a.m. until sold out Tuesday. All auxiliary members are asked to donate home-baked goods for the sale.
Pine Valley School Board To Meet
SOUTH DAYTON - The Pine Valley Central School Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the board conference room, Room No. 5, at the elementary school. The public is invited to attend. Also, the Nov. 15 regularly scheduled meeting has been changed to Nov. 13 at 7 p.m. in the board's conference room.
City?Church Slates Annual Dinner
Pilgrim Memorial United Church of Christ, corner of Forest and McKinley Avenues, will hold its annual spaghetti dinner and bake sale from 4:30-7 p.m. on Saturday. Tickets are $7 per person; children, age 5 and under, free. Takeouts will be available. Proceeds will benefit area outreach programs. Persons attending should use the Forest Avenue entrance.
