BATAVIA - The Jamestown Community College swimming team opened it season at the Genesee Community College Fall Invitational on Saturday.
The women took home a commanding win with 346 points, well in front of second-place SUNY Delhi woth 84 points.
The men's team was fourth with 207 points.
The Jayhawks took home a combined win with a total of 553 points while Delhi was second with 460.
"All in all, a good opening meet,'' JCC coach Mike Giambruno said. ''When you come a way with a win it's always good. The times will come down as the season goes on so I'm not too worried about that. We just wanted to get through this first meet to see where we are."
For the women, Kelsey Akin was first in the 500 freestyle at 5:56.96 and a second in the 50 freestyle in 28.02. Emily Holt won her 200 individual medley in 2:31.82.
On the men's side, Victor Halletttook a first in the 200 freestyle in 2:04.28 and a second in the 100 back in 1:03.29.
John Trombetta had a good showing in the 50 and 100 freestyle with a 24,24 and 54.12 in the events.
Tom Prinzi posted a win in the 1,000 freestyle with a 12:18.55.
The Jayhawks return to action on Wednesday with a dual meet at Monroe CC.
