The New York Youth Hunter Education Challenge received a grant of $3,900 from the National Rifle Association Foundation to send participants to the NRA International YHEXC in Mansfield, Pa. They represented New York and competed in archery, rifle, orienteering, shotgun, muzzleloading, wildlife identification, hunter safety trail and a hunter responsibility exam. Also supporting the endeavor were the Carroll Rod & Gun Club, the Jamestown Rifle Club, the Westfield Fish & Game Club, the Falconer Rod & Gun Club, the North Chautauqua Conservation Club, the Ripley Rod & Gun Club and Rammelt & Sons.
