County Legion Holds Joint Meeting

The October Meeting of the Chautauqua County American Legion was recently held at the Dunkirk Memorial Post 62. This was the annual joint meeting of the County Legion, County Legion Auxiliary and County Sons of the Legion.

Various committee reports were given.

Cindy Budnieski from the Blue Star Mothers organization spoke about the Christmas project for active duty military personnel. The Legion's county Veterans Day Service will be held on Nov. 11 at the Brocton Legion starting at 1 p.m. All are welcome to attend.

Mention was made of the book "In Remembrance Of" by Vietnam Veteran patrick Kavanagh - this book lists all Vietnam Servicemen killed in action from Western New York with biographies on each one.

This book will be on display Nov. 11-12, from noon to 5 p.m., at the Larson-Timko Funeral Home, Fredonia.

County Commander John Miga was presented with a certificate for completing the National Legion Extension Course

The late Fred Prine was awarded with the designation of Honorary Past County Commander for his many years of dedication to the American Legion. Fred's family was present for the award ceremony.

The next meeting of the County Legion will be on Dec. 7 at the Ira Lou Spring Post 149 in Jamestown. All Legionnaires are urged to attend this meeting.
