FREWSBURG - Ten members of the Southside Midget Football team traded their spikes and calisthenics for paint, brushes, creativity and pizza when they matched up with residents of the Frewsburg Rest Home for an evening of pumpkin painting.

The youth were paired with residents who provided technical advice and encouragement resulting in some festive pumpkins.

"This is a fun evening event connecting kids and seniors," said Steve Sischo, Frewsburg Rest Home owner and team coach. "It's great to see them engaged and working together, sharing ideas and creating together. We're also creating great memories for both the kids and our residents."

Jackie Shannon, Frewsburg Rest Home activities director, said the visits are a chance for the youth to experience in serving others and gain a positive connection with people older, wiser and with remarkable life experience to share.

"For our residents, it is sheer delight in watching the focus, creativity, and fun the kids' exhibit while bringing back wonderful memories of days gone by," she said.
