Honduras Mission Project Auction To Be Held

October 30, 2012
The Post-Journal

The Honduras Mission Project will again hold the annual Honduras Auction and Chinese Auction Sunday, Nov. 4, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. The event will be held at St. Timothy Lutheran Church, and all are welcome.

David Brown from Westfield will be the auctioneer. Many businesses and individuals have donated gift certificates, gift baskets and other items for the auction. Viewing will begin at 4:30 p.m.

The auction supports the ongoing program in the small village of la Villa de San Francisco in Honduras. St. Timothy and many other local churches support 38 children and their families year round. A mission team was in Honduras from Oct. 20-28, working with the children, assessing the needs of the program, providing medical check-ups and teaching the mothers new skills. The team will be at the auction to tell people about the mission.

There will also be a light dinner of pulled pork sandwiches or vegetarian chili, salad, dessert, and beverage for $6 from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The auction will begin at 5:30, but people will be served dinner until 6.

This auction is one of the major fundraisers for the Honduras Mission Project, which has been going for 18 years. New sponsors are always needed for the children, since the project supports a weekly program and gives protein-based foods to the families once a month.
