Donna Vanstrom, pictured above, will retire in April as Family Service of the Chautauqua Region executive director.
During her tenure as executive director, new programs have been added, including House Calls, a counseling program for homebound seniors, and a drop out prevention program which, in partnership with Jamestown Public School and United Way of Southern Chautauqua County, identifies and treats those students at risk of not graduating with their class.
The financial security of the organization has improved through a more effective budget preparation and monitoring process, acquisition of grants from outside funders, introduction of fundraising events, improved insurance reimbursement and enhanced staff credentialing process improving the ability of social workers to bill for their services. Family Service of the Chautauqua Region is in the process of moving to a paperless office with the implementation of electronic health records. The change will save money and time, improve efficiency and enhance client services.
"Donna has been an invaluable leader for Family Service of the Chautauqua Region. She led us through many challenges over her tenure with Family Service, resulting in a stronger, more vibrant organization due to her tremendous leadership. Her commitment, knowledge, and passion will surely be missed and hard to replace. On behalf of the board of directors, we wish her nothing but the best in her upcoming retirement," said Joelle Washer, Family Service of the Chautauqua Region board president.
The search for a new executive director will begin in November with the expectation of having the new director in place by March 1. For more information about the search, visit the agency website at www.familyservicecr.com.
