June H. Franson, 84, of Syracuse, N.Y., formerly of Laurie Lane, Jamestown, N.Y., passed away Thursday (Oct. 25, 2012) in the James Square Nursing Home, Syracuse, N.Y.
An area resident for most of her life, she was born Sept. 20, 1928, in Jamestown, N.Y., a daughter of the late Ruth M. Carlson and Roy E. Hoaglund.
Before her retirement in 1995, she was a switchboard operator for WCA Hospital for 10 years. In earlier years she had worked as an operator for the former Jamestown Telephone Company for several years.

She was a former member of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church and in previous years she and her husband enjoyed spending time at the Vikings Lodge.
She will be remembered as a loving and caring mother who loved her tiger cats and spent many hours crocheting afghans. She also loved spending time working around her home and taking care of her flowers.
Surviving is a daughter, Valerie A. Getman of Baldwinsville, N.Y., and her sister, Pat Carr of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her husband Paul D. "Duff" Franson whom she married Jan. 16, 1954, and who died Sept. 18, 1991.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Lind Funeral Home. The Rev. Rick LaDue, pastor of the Kidder Memorial United Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
Friends will be received for one hour prior to the service on Monday in the funeral home.
