RANDOLPH - Operating a late-night pizza and wings business doesn't leave much time for family.
That is why Mike and Krista Gibbons sold Wings N Things restaurant in Jamestown and opened a diner in Randolph.
McMurdy's Family Diner, 143 Main St., Randolph, is the couple's new business, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mrs. Gibbons said they were spending too much time at work while operating their restaurant in Jamestown. They wanted to spend more time with their 8-year-old son Kolton.

"He is just getting into sports and we want to be there for that," she said.
The diner opened in August and the couple said they are getting into the swing of things when it comes to operating a daytime restaurant. They said the new business is giving them more of an opportunity to get to know their customers.
"When you're doing pizza and wings, you're doing a lot of deliveries. I recognized people's voices, but I don't get to meet them," she said. "Here you get to meet everyone. You start talking to them and getting to know them."
Gibbons said, in a diner, there is more of a laid back, relaxed feeling.
"You're busy, but there is a slower pace to it," he said.
The diner does serve wings and pizza, but also comfort foods like homemade meatloaf, steak and chicken alfredo. There are specials every day, with a fish fry on Friday and chicken and biscuits on Saturday. For lunch and dinner, there is a pizza, salad and soup buffet offered. Breakfast is served until 2 p.m.
The couple said word-of-mouth advertising is starting to increase around the village, with more customers and orders for take-out. For takeout or more information about the dinner, call 358-4429. McMurdy's Family Diner is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Wednesday and Sunday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
