EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. and MADISON, Wisc. - Howard James Johnson, 87, of Eden Prairie, Minn., passed away peacefully on Monday, Oct. 22, 2012, having lived a long, productive and happy life.
Howard was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Superior, the son of Mabel and Leonard Johnson.
Howard served honorably in the U.S. Navy as a PO2 electrician's mate during World War II. He married Mary Virginia Edgerton on Oct. 11, 1952 (his 27th birthday), in Beloit. Howard worked for Fish Oven Company in Beloit, and was the maintenance supervisor at Firch Baking Company in Jamestown, N.Y., and Klinke Cleaners in Monona.

Howard enjoyed woodworking, breadmaking, traveling, reading, and spending time with his family. He was a kind and gentle man with a wonderful sense of humor.
Howard is survived by his three children: Paul H. (Jeanne) Johnson of Jamestown, N.Y., Helen V. (Howard) Pearlman of Eden Prairie, Minn., and Elizabeth J. (Steven) Faust of Sun Prairie; and seven grandchildren: Jessica, Joseph and Paula Pearlman, Sarah and Matthew Johnson and Emily and April Faust.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Virginia Johnson; his parents; and brother, Robert Johnson.
A private service will be held in Beloit. Howard was much loved and will be greatly missed.
