OLEAN - It was a dominating performance for the Salamanca Lady Warriors on Wednesday night as they captured the Division 2 championship of the Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association girls swimming championships for the first time ever at Olean Middle School.

Salamanca recorded 29 personal bests en route to 393 points. Panama was second with 308 points, Allegany-Limestone third with 291, Frewsburg fourth with 273 and Franklinville fifth with 127.

''We have had some great teams over the history of our program but have always taken a second seat to Frewsburg,''said Salamanca coach Laurie Lafferty-John. ''Coach Bruce Johnson has developed a rich history of championships there, but this season was our turn.''

She added, ''We had some tough dual meets, but they came to compete each and every time.''

Her team has earned the honor of being called undefeated league and county champs for the first time in the history of the program.''

''It was truly the depth of our team that clinched the meet,''said Lafferty-John. ''With 12 scoring places in the meet for each event we have solid swimmers in every event. Our relays really added to the total point score as well.''
