BPU?Warns Of
Discolored Water
BPU water customers in Celoron, West Ellicott and Lakewood should be on the lookout for discolored water on Tuesday. A sprinkler company will conduct an annual full-flow discharge fire pump test at a private company on Jackson Avenue in Celoron on Tuesday. Such testing may stir water in the vicinity and cause discolored water. Residents in those areas may notice discolored water due to the testing and should avoid doing laundry until Wednesday.
Sprague Street Bridge Reopens
Chautauqua County Bridge 1079 on Sprague Street in Jamestown between Steele Street and Second Street has been reopened.
TEA?Party To Meet Tuesday
LAKEWOOD - The Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots will meet at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Lakewood American Legion, 174 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood. Members and guests will view "The Determinators," a film about Obamacare and its effect on citizens. Discussion also will be held about the upcoming election and the need for volunteering. Signs will be available. The public is welcome to attend.
Bemus Point Board To Meet Today
The Bemus Point Central School District Board of Education will hold a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria at Maple Grove High School. The public is invited to attend.
Health Care Is Focus Of Meeting
The PANY SHRM chapter will discuss health care updates and ways businesses can manage escalating costs at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Marvin House. The discussion will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and be led by Jason Mull, executive vice president of Brown & Brown; and Tom Ciccotti, CHC Wellness senior vice president of sales; and will include health care trends, ways to educate employees on their options and effective ways to access good and affordable health care. Moose Lodge Sets Halloween Activities
Jamestown Moose Lodge 1681, 405 E. Fifth St., Jamestown, will host a pair of Halloween parties on Saturday. The first party is open to youth up to 14 years of age from 2 to 4:30 p.m. A costume contest will be held at 2:30 p.m., with refreshments from 3 to 3:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend. An adult Halloween party, open only to lodge members or qualified guests, will be held later Saturday night with a costume contest at 10 p.m. There will also be karaoke and a donation tree.
Falconer To Host Charity Meeting
FALCONER - A group of concerned residents from the Falconer area will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 24, at the Falcon's Nest to discuss the future of charitable activity in the area. Residents from Ellington, Falconer, Kennedy and Poland are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served.
