History Of Celoron Hose Company No. 1

The Celoron Hose Company No. 1 Inc. was formed October 16, 1897. The Hose Company was incorporated November 23, 1897.

A two-wheel hand drawn hose cart was acquired with hose, ladders and other minor equipment in 1897. In 1922, the village purchased a LaFrance small truck which was without a pump. Three motorized trucks with pumps were built by the members in 1922. In 1975 the Celoron Hose Company purchased the Snorkel aerial platform truck for $100,000. In 2001 Boat 321 a Diamond Back Air Boat was purchased for assisting with lake rescues.

Today's fleet consist of Engine 32 a 2008 Pierce Pumper, Engine 322 a 1991 E-One Pumper, EP 321 a 1975 Pierce 55' Platform, Ambulance 321 - 2005 Horton Ambulance, Miscellaneous 321 - 1977 Hose Truck, Miscellaneous 322 - 1996 GMC pick-up and Boat 321 a 2001 Diamond Back Air Boat

In 1952 the Celoron Hose Company built our fire hall at 92 Dunham Ave., Celoron, for $47,000 which housed two fire trucks. In later years we added four truck bays to the front of the building. In 2003, the new addition to the back of the fire hall was built with offices and three new truck bays.
