KENMORE - Eric Steinwachs scored in the 87th minute to lift Williamsville North over Jamestown, 1-0, in Erie Country Interscholastic Conference Division 1 boys soccer recently.
Jamestown nearly scored twice during the contest, once in the first half when a breakaway shot sailed wide and once midway through the second when Alex Lee Yaw's direct kick clanged off the post.
Goalkeeper Zach Schupp, up from the jayvee squad, made seven saves in defeat. The loss dropped the Red Raiders to 2-14 overall and 2-10 in league.
GIRLS SUFFER TWO LOSSES
Jamestown High School recorded two losses in Division 1 of the Erie County Interscholastic Conference recently.
On Thursday, Jamestown lost at Williamsville North, 6-1, with Rachel Oelbracht scoring the lone goal on free kick from 25 yards out.
Hannah Bensink was in goal and made 12 saves in the loss.
Earlier visiting Clarence handed the Lady Red Raiders a 6-2 defeat.
Rachel Oelbracht and Kylie Wilson each scored a goal, and Bensink made seven saves.
