Busti To Move Budget Hearing

BUSTI - Town of Busti officials will be changing the date of the public hearing on the 2013 budget. On Friday, the Town Board will schedule the public hearing for 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5. The town had set the public hearing for Nov. 19. However, because of town law, the public hearing has to be held earlier in the month.

Responders Class Being Offered

CHAUTAUQUA - Chautauqua Health and Fitness, located in the Turner Community Center at Chautauqua Institution on Route 394, is offering an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Lay Responders Certification Class from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10. The cost is $50 and includes the book and masks. Registration is required by Friday by calling 357-6430 or emailing fitnesscenter@ciweb.org.

Towel Party Set For Friday

FORESTVILLE - Forestville Order of the Eastern Star 247 will host a towel party Friday at the Masonic Hall, Main Street, Forestville, with doors opening at 6:30 p.m. Games begin at 7 p.m. Refreshments will be available. Extra boards are available. There will be door prizes, large and small prizes available.

Christmas Auction Set For Saturday

GERRY - The Gerry Volunteer Fire Department, 4490 Gerry-Levant Road, will hold a Christmas auction at 6 p.m. Saturday in the Gerry Fire Hall. New items will be featured. Refreshments will be available.

Library Story Time Held Today

Gas Wells Topic Of Film Series

The Jamestown Prendergast Library will present a critical discussion series on the impact of gas well fracking on Chautauqua County residents. The documentary "Gasland: Can you light your water on fire?" will be shown Thursday in the Fireplace Room at 7 p.m. The documentary "Silent No More: Voices from the Women of the Shale" will be shown Thursday, Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. in the Fireplace Room.

High Demand To Keep Store Open

Due to the special need for the Jamestown people, Victory Tabernacle, 501 W. Third St., will not close its doors as previously planned and will stay open until another church is found to take over management. Store hours will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each Monday and Saturday; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday. Donations are needed. For more information, call 483-1283. If there is no answer, leave a message. An inside yard sale will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Hot dogs, chips and a drink will be available for purchase.

Make A Difference Day Is Saturday

CASSADAGA - The Cassadaga American Legion Post 1280 Auxiliary will hold its Make A Difference Day collection Saturday. The auxiliary, with the help of the Cub Scouts from Pack 219, will begin collections of food for the Cassadaga Food Pantry at 9 a.m. Donations should be left on the front porch before that time, if possible.
