Melody Jean Snyder, 59, formerly of 42 Chapin St., Jamestown, died Monday (Oct. 15, 2012), in Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing facility.
Melody was born Nov. 3, 1952, in Kittanning, Pa., the daughter of James and Mary June Doverspike Geist.
Melody Jean attended Jamestown schools, and for 25 years worked at WCA Hospital in the housekeeping department. She was known for her excellent work ethic and sense of humor.

One of her favorite things to do was spend time with her friends, family, but most of all her children. She would do anything for her children and was a wonderful mother. She also enjoyed baking breads and pies to share among family and give to neighbors. Shopping was also another one of her favorite past-times. She loved to collect thimbles, snowmen, and figurines. She is known best for her immaculate cleaning talent. Everyone who knew Melody enjoyed her outgoing personality and friendliness.
Surviving besides her mother of Jamestown are: a son, Matthew and daughter-in-law, Courtney Snyder of Canandaigua, N.Y.; a daughter, April Snyder of Charlotte, N.C.; six sisters: Nancy (George) Adams of Bemus Point; Darlene Geist, Betty Geist, Patty (George) Fleming, Connie (Chip) Myers and Lisa Geist, all of Jamestown; and a brother, James Geist of Jamestown.
She was preceded in death by her father in 1977.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday in the Lind Funeral Home.
The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the funeral home. The Rev. Dayle F. Keefer will officiate.
Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
