Mildred E. Palmer, 98, formerly of 4888 Route 474, Ashville, died at 12:30 a.m. Monday (Oct. 15, 2012), in Heritage Park Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing facility.
She was born Aug. 24, 1914, in Ashville, the daughter of Burt Doud and Velma James Doud Dustin.
A 1932 graduate of the former Chautauqua High School, she had been the owner and operator of Mildred's Home Lunch in Ashville for 55 years. She retired in 2003 at the age of 88.
She was a member of the Ashville United Methodist Church, the Harmony His-torical Society, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club, and the Harmony Senior Citizens. Her restaurant was her life, and she enjoyed her customers who made it a party atmosphere daily, along with the "Village Fathers" who met there once a month. She also enjoyed taking bus tours with the senior citizens.
Surviving are two sons: Arvid O. (Freda) Palmer, and Arthur V. Palmer, both of Jamestown; five grandchildren: David (Di-ane) Pamer of Yardley, Pa., John (Cindy) Palmer of Lakewood, Carol Ann (Matthew) Walker of Bellview, Fla., Jay (Vikki) Palmer of Erie, Pa., and Devon Palmer of Ashville; nine great grandchildren: Alexis Moon, Bryce and Baily Walker, Nicholas and Alex Palmer, Morgan and Matthew Palmer, Keith Bonovitch and Kellie Hogenson; and four great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Vic-tor Palmer, who died Jan. 13, 1962; and by two both-ers: Oscar and Ernest Doud.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Powers, Present & Sixbey Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald Haglund will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Ashville.
