Forty-six members of the Mayville Senior Citizens met for lunch in the Mayville VFW. The table committee was Louise Richir, Dolly Gilbert, Bonnie Johnson and Mary Carlson.
Chaplain Dianne Goodrich gave the invocation before the seniors enjoyed the many casseroles and desserts.
President Joyce Ayers led the group in the flag salute and then conducted the business meeting. Secretary Izetta Ayling read the minutes and correspondences and, the treasurer gave her report.
Goodwill chair Mary Carlson listed the birthdays for two life members: Loretta Spielman and Betty Walters; and others celebrating their special day, including Rose Latimer, John Kroll, Ernestine Cruzado, Jeff Wagner, Shirley Zentz, Jo Ann Westpfhal, Lois Maloy and Rex Wilson. Bonnie and Doug Johnson and Jim and Arleen Kurtz are celebrating their wedding anniversaries.
Trip co-chair Sandy Anderson announced that the payment for the Riverside Theater is due in November. The bus is full, but there is a waiting list in case there are any cancellations.
Program chairman, Bill Tornstrom introduced Undersheriff Charles Holder, who spoke about the FBI Training Center at Quantico, Va. Training for all aspects of law enforcement is available to all police agencies in the United States at that facility.
Ms. Ayers announced that dues for 2013 may be paid at anytime now. Also, the Harvest Dinner will be on a Saturday in November. The exact date will be announced soon. This will be by reservation only. A sign-up sheet will be available at Thursday's meeting. The person called for the lottery was not there, so it grows. Izetta Ayling won the door prize.
The next meeting of the Mayville Senior Citizens will be Thursday at noon in the Mayville VFW. The speaker will be John Ward. All area residents 55 and older are welcome. Bring a dish to pass and your own table service.
