JCC Volleyball Team Locks Up No. 2 Seed

AUBURN - Jamestown Community College secured the No. 2 seed in NJCAA Region 3, Division III with a 17-1 record after capturing three wins at Cayuga CC in the last POD play on Saturday to raise the overall mark to 28-7.

''I didn't expect this season at all, especially with just seven players,'' Jayhawks coach Ashley Lund said. ''They've gritted it out every weekend. They've just done everything they could do.''

JCC captured the first match by beating Cayuga CC, 25-12, 25-8, 25-19, with Christina Rauh having two aces, 19 assists, nine kills, 12 digs and a block and Brittany Brace two aces, 11 kills, two digs and two blocks. Arrica Lis added six kills, 13 digs and a block and Anna Nietupski six aces, three kills and 16 digs in the victory.

Then, JCC defeated Jefferson CC, 25-9, 21-23, 25-14, 28-26, as Rauh had an ace, 28 assists, 11 kills, 21 digs and two blocks, Lis four aces, 16 kills, 11 digs, 11 kills, and a block, Brace eight kills, 10 digs and four blocks, and Kelsey Kyser eight kills, eight digs and two blocks.

Finally, JCC overtook Onondaga CC, 25-20, 20-25, 25-9, 25-16, with Rauh delivering four aces, 28 assists, nine kills, 18 digs and two blocks. Lis added two aces, 17 kills, 14 digs and two blocks, Kyser an ace, nine kills, 10 digs and four blocks and Brace two aces, 10 kills, three digs and three blocks.

Niagara County CC lost to Jefferson CC, but beat JCC, so, it is No. 1 seed.

JCC plays at host Butler CC in the season-ending game on Wednesday.

This is followed by WNYAC play on Saturday at Erie CC. The Region 3 Tournament is Oct. 27-28 with pool play Oct. 27 and the four finalists on Oct 28 at Niagara CCC.
