SALAMANCA - Salamanca (8-4-1, 9-5-1) held the lead through the first half, but Frewsburg battled back from a two-goal deficit in the second half for a hard-fought 4-3 victory in Division 2 girls soccer on Friday

The Bears scored first when Maddy Whippo found the net as Allison Berg assisted at the 3:30 mark.

The Lady Warriors tied things up at 14 minutes as Shea Smith scored off an assist by Paige Papa and two minutes later, Alyssa Coustenis scored as Mickey Tinnerman assisted and Salamanca took the lead, 2-1.

Papa then added a goal of her own at 36 minutes with the assist by Tinnerman to make it 3-1 at the half

But it was all Frewsburg from there as the Bears cut to advantage to 3-2 when Janessa Annis knocked in an unassisted goal and Karlee Foti tied the game at the 23-minute mark on a long shot from the outside.

The Bears got what proved to be the game-winning goal with under 11 minutes left when Berg scored off assist from Sam Mann.

Reyanne Strong had eight saves to earn the victory for Frewsburg.

Courtney James and Kashauna Learn combined for 12 saves for Salamanca.
