Frewsburg Girls Shut Out Portville In Div. 2 Soccer

FREWSBURG - Frewsburg played host to Portville (9-4-1) on Wednesday and both teams found themselves locked in a defensive battle throughout the entire first half, but the Bears (8-4) broke through in the second to pick up a 2-0 victory in Division 2 girls action.

Janessa Annis scored Frewsburg's first goal, assisted by Tessa Alianell at the 26-minuite mark and Nikki Weber followed with another goal as Maddie Whippo assisted with 10 minutes left.

Reyanne Strong had three saves for the Bears to earn the win in goal.

Kaitlyn Knott collected nine saves for Portville in the losing effort.

C-LV NOTCHES FIRST WIN

SINCLAIRVILLE - Cattaraugus-Little Valley picked up its first win of the season, posting a 3-1 victory over Cassadaga Valley.

The Lady Timberwolves got on the board first when Jenna Martin scored off an assist from Brooke Moore with 26 minutes left in the first half and Brianna Sciolino made is 2-0 about 10 minutes later with the assist going to Lori Pritchard.

The Cougars cut the lead to 2-1, thanks to a goal by Ashley Carroll, but Cattaraugus-Little Valley took the lead for good when Pritchard scored an unassisted goal.

The winning goalie was Megan Jones, who made four saves for the Lady Timberwolves.

Megan Rearick took the loss in goal, also collecting four saves.
