Thelma M. Nelson

Thelma M. Nelson, who celebrated her 100th birthday on April 30, 2012, passed away Oct. 3, 2012, at Cedar Haven Nursing Home, Lebanon, Pa., where she had been a resident for three years.

She was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on April 30, 1912, the daughter of William and Selma Younggren Johnson. On Nov. 26, 1930, she married J. Eric Nelson.

In 1983, Eric and Thelma moved to Lebanon, Pa., to be near their daughter, Alvie A. Brentley, son-in-law, Raymond Brentley and grandson, Mark E. Brentley, of Cleona. Pa. In 1987, Eric passed away and Thelma kept their apartment until Sept. 24, 2009, when she went into Cedar Haven.

Everyone who knew Thelma loved her as she touched so many lives, young and old, with her wonderful smile and willingness to help anyone anyway she possible could. She will be sadly missed by all who loved her dearly.

Surviving are her daughter, Alvie; grandson, Mark; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Preceding her in death is her husband; twin son, Alvin; son-in-law, Raymond; sisters: Orpha Swanson and Martha Hoover; and brother, Reynold Johnson.

She will be cremated and inurnment will be at Sunset Hill Cemetery, Lakewood, N.Y.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 1500 Quentin Road, Lebanon, PA 17042; or the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 2040 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
